Madhu Pahar, PhD

Postdoc Researcher

Dr. Madhurananda Pahar received his BSc in Mathematics from the University of Calcutta, India, and his MSc in Computing for Financial Markets followed by his PhD in Computational Neuroscience from the University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. His research interest lies in the area of applied machine learning to the field of Biology. Currently, he is working as a research scholar at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, USA, and he is working to develop cutting-edge deep learning methods in human diseases for the study of genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, and epi-transcriptomics. Previously, he was working in machine learning and signal processing for audio and smart sensors in bio-medicine. He was involved in the application of deep learning to detect and classify tuberculosis and COVID-19 vocal audio in real-world environments as well as the monitoring of patient behaviour using smart sensors such as an accelerometer. Raj Doshi

PhD student

Raj grew up outside of Portland, OR, and was drawn to technology at an early age. Contrary to the typical kid, Raj spent summers participating in lego robotics tournaments and attending coding camps. As Raj grew older, he became interested in the health field, becoming First Aid/CPR certified at 12 years old and attending workshops at Oregon Health and Science University on weekends. After that, Raj attended Oregon State University to pursue a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to be pre-med. It was in his final year there, during the inception of the COVID-19 pandemic that he became interested in bioinformatics. While taking the last of his courses, he discovered the field and instantly developed an appreciation for it. Using his existing coding knowledge with what he learned about DNA and RNA in his undergraduate to solve health issues became a passion for him. This led him to come to UNLV to help investigate the genomic variabilities that cause disease at the Nevada Institute of Personalized Medicine. Current research interests include the analysis of gene isoforms and the investigation of RNA methylation within Alzheimer's disease. In his free time, he enjoys following sports, being active with his dog, and cooking meals for others. Google Scholar

Bryce Forrest

Undergraduate Researcher
